TGI Friday's Valentine’s Day Promotion Gives Thanks to the “Wingman“
While upscale dining spots are offering prix-fixe menus for sweethearts to share this Valentine’s Day, TGI Friday's is not limiting its promotional efforts to couples, aiming to entice guests this Friday no matter what their relationship status.
The casual dining chain is using the holiday of romance to note its place in the history of the singles’ meet, asserting that within its nearly 50 years of operation, its staff has seen “more dates, connections, break-ups, and make-ups than any other bar in America.”
Friday's makes note that while Valentine’s Day is largely seen as a couples night out, 10 percent of single women and 27 percent of unattached men are planning to go out with friends, revealed in a Penn Schoen Berland national consumer poll conducted in January 2014 on behalf of TGI Friday's.
One of its promotions pays tribute to the “Wingman,” the guy or gal who, Friday's states, is a most important element in making that love connection at a bar.
The Twitter promotion gives thanks to the wingman by inviting guests to buy him or her wings—naturally. To participate, guests must follow @TGIFridaysand tweet using the hashtag #thankswingman for a chance to gift wings for their wingman. The first 500 guests to tweet using the #thankswingman receive a complimentary $15 e-gift card within 24 hours to TGI Friday's to use toward an order of wings. The program runs until February 14th.
Friday's is also inviting guests to partake in a debate it is igniting for this Valentine’s Day: “Who is having more fun on Valentine’s Day, singles or couples?” Regardless of their relationship status, participants can cast their vote at TGIFridays.com/CouplesvsSinglesto help decide who's having more fun: #TGImTaken or #TGImSingle.
The restaurant is offering LTO beverage selections, including its signature Cosmo Noir, a Valentine's Day-inspired drink featuring Svedka raspberry vodka, lemon juice, and Monin vanilla pure extract, topped with a layer of Cupcake Vineyard Pinot Noir. Participating locations are also providing half-priced bottles of wine (excluding champagne, Prosecco and Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio).
