Women Chefs and Restaurateurs (WCR), in partnership with The James Beard Foundation, hosted the Pioneers and Legends dinner at the James Beard House in New York City in honor of some of the nation’s top culinary talents and leaders.

The dinner set the stage for the organization’s 22nd Annual National Conference to be held in New York this spring. Women Chefs & Restaurateurs was founded in 1993 in support of women throughout the culinary field. The nonprofit organization works to promote and enhance the education, advancement, and connection of women in the restaurant industry across the world.

“Bringing these culinary powerhouses together to cook under one of the most renowned roofs in the restaurant industry was an amazing experience,” says WCR president Elizabeth Falkner.

The evening’s featured participants included Elizabeth Falkner and Kathleen Blake (The Rusty Spoon); Susan Feniger (Border Grill Restaurants, Truck, and Mud Hen Tavern); Mary Sue Milliken (Border Grill Restaurants and Truck); Jamie Leeds (Hank’s Oyster Bar); Emily Luchetti, (The Cavalier, Marlowe, and Park Tavern); Susan Spicer (Bayona and Mondo); Anne Rosenzweig, (Consulting Chef); and Rita Jammet (La Caravelle Champagne).

Highlights from the menu included Foie Gras Bonbons with Violet Cassis Jam, a Ceviche Duo of Alaskan Halibut Carpaccio and Alaskan King Crab, Aguachile Verde, and Inside-Out Cervena Venison Ravioli. West Coast Wine Partners and DVM Importing Co. Domenico-Valentino provided wine pairings.
