During the month of June, Marlow's Tavern encouraged guests to donate to Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA). For every donation of $1 or more, guests received $5 gift cards to use on a future visit. A total of $20,345 was raised for SOGA, which will cover expenses for around 226 athletes to participate in a weekend-long state competition this year.

At these competitions, athletes have the opportunity to focus on their abilities and not their disabilities, and gain self-confidence and positive self-image that carries over into all aspects of their lives. Participation in SOGA allows athletes to develop healthy habits that lead to improved overall health; to show their families and community what they can accomplish after months of focusing on a goal, practicing, and training and to be away from home, encouraging independence and teaching daily life and independent living skills. As a result, SOGA athletes become fulfilled and productive members of their families and the communities in which they live.

In addition to the fundraiser in June, the 18th Annual Marlow’s Tavern Golf Classic hosted by Marlow's Tavern, Sterling Spoon Culinary Management and Aqua blue is coming up on September 19. Since 1999, this annual golf tournament has raised well over $600,000 for SOGA athletes. This year’s tournament goal is to raise $80,000. The fun-filled day will include a putting contest, shotgun start, hole contests and an awards ceremony, reception and silent auction at Aqua blue. More information on sponsorships, attending the reception and making donations can be found online.
