$25,000 Endowed to Culinary Scholarships in Seattle

Les Dames d’Escoffier, Seattle Chapter (LDES), has established two new endowed scholarship funds at South Seattle Community College (SSCC):

Les Dames d’Escoffier, Seattle, Culinary Arts Endowed Scholarship Fund in Honor of Co-Founder, Dame Kathleen Stang, and
Les Dames d’Escoffier, Seattle, Wine Technology—Northwest Wine Academy Endowed Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship endowments were funded with two cash gifts of $25,000. In addition to the $25,000 endowments, LDES is providing two one-time-only, non-endowed cash gifts of $1,000 for scholarships available for the academic year 2011-2012.

LDES named the culinary-arts scholarship fund in honor of Seattle Dame Kathleen Desmond Stang, a well-known Northwest cookbook author and food writer, and one of the three founders of the Seattle Chapter. Stang passed away August 9, 2011, in Seattle, after an extended illness.
