With a desire to increase emphasis on its robust intellectual property portfolio, food technology leader Aseptia recently added a new member to its executive team.

John A. Hudson has joined the Raleigh, North Carolina, company as its Executive Vice President and Chief Intellectual Property Officer, announced Aseptia President and CEO David Clark. Aseptia’s patented technologies—AseptiWave and AseptiSense—are dominant pieces of the company’s developing IP portfolio. These innovative, award-winning technologies allow for the processing and validation of a wide range of aseptic food and beverages with better sensory, nutrition retention, extended shelf life and ingredient profiles while also lowering supply chain costs by reducing or eliminating the need for cold storage.

Hudson brings nearly 20 years of intellectual property experience to his new position with Aseptia, including work with international consulting firms. Immediately prior to Aseptia, Hudson was a member and co-leader of Deloitte’s National Intellectual Property Advisory practice. During his eight-year tenure in this role, Hudson provided a variety of IP services to clients such as asset valuations; the development and implementation of strategic and enforcement licensing programs; royalty audits; and the purchase and sale of IP portfolios. He regularly worked with various clients—from universities and governmental agencies to private equity firms and Fortune 500 companies. He is also the recipient of numerous accolades, including multiple recognitions by Intellectual Asset Magazine’s (IAM) “IAM Strategy 300—the World’s Leading Intellectual Property Strategists.”

Hudson earned his Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Florida. This wealth of expertise will benefit Aseptia’s growing IP activities, overseen by Hudson among his responsibilities. His new role with the state-of-the-art company also includes IP strategy and commercialization, IP portfolio management and development, IP-related transactions and IP education, awareness and monetization. Additionally, he’ll work in tandem with the executive team and also help protect innovation and drive overall corporate value.

“We’re excited to welcome someone with such considerable value and knowledge into Aseptia’s core team,” says Clark. “John brings unique and respected intellectual property expertise that will benefit Aseptia and our ground-breaking technologies for years to come. We know the company will only benefit with this new, skilled member as part of our leadership team.”

Hudson expresses enthusiasm for the new position, “Aseptia is an accomplished food tech leader with a growing international IP portfolio of advanced food technologies. I’m proud to be part of this talented team, and I’m committed to bringing the knowledge I’ve gained these previous two decades to this growing, progressive company.”
