Chicken Pharm, the new family-friendly neighborhood restaurant, is set to open its doors on Saturday, November 11 in the heart of historic downtown Petaluma, California. Local talent and industry veteran, Adam Mali, leads the kitchen where he will serve up locally sourced, elevated home-style cuisine in a lively, casual setting, with guests ordering at the counter for lunch, dinner and brunch. A tribute to Petaluma’s rich agriculture heritage, as well as the building’s original tenant—Tuttle Drug Store, the team has created a casual dining experience for locals and visitors to gather over delicious food and drinks.

Chef Adam Mali (who has worked in kitchens across California including Delfina and Gary Danko, was Executive Chef at Nick’s Cove in West Marin, and most recently the Regional Executive Chef at Twitter HQ in San Francisco) has designed an innovative menu that showcases house-made, hyper-local ingredients and vibrant, comforting flavors, all which reflect his take on American comfort food classics. Committed to supporting the local agriculture community, Mali will source Chicken Pharm’s high-quality seasonal ingredients from farms and ranches in the North Bay, with Petaluma, CA being front and center. The dishes served at Chicken Pharm will feature goods from local producers including Bellwether Farms, Black Pig Meat Company, Fallon Hills Ranch, Marshall Farms Honey, Petaluma Creamery, Three Twins Ice Cream, and many others.

The menu consists of a variety of a la carte dishes ranging from small bites to innovative sandwiches, salads and larger entrees. Some of Mali’s standouts include Buttermilk Fried Chicken, served as an entrée or as a sandwich on a brioche bun with house made pickles and coleslaw; Kimchicken Sandwich, fried or grilled chicken, with gojichang and kimchi, served on a King’s Hawaiian roll; Griddled PB&J with house-made jam and a side of Clover Sonoma Milk; Hot Chicken, spicy buttermilk fried chicken, jalapeno sauce, chili coleslaw, and charred shisitos served on a brioche bun; Burgers, choice of beef (from Fallon Hills Ranch), grilled chicken, rare grilled albacore tuna, or griddled veggie version; The Wings with flavor options such as Marshall Farms Honey Sriracha and Petaluma Buffalo, as well as the option to substitute crispy roasted cauliflower for all wing varietals; and fresh seasonal salads including Butter n’ Eggs with radish, snap peas, hard-cooked egg and buttermilk dressing and DiStefano Burrata with roasted artichokes, red Fresno chilies, toasted bread crumbs and a basil vinaigrette. The menu also offers a variety of shared plates such as Petaluma Creamery White Cheddar Mac n’ Cheese, Baked Rancho Gordo Beans with bacon, and Cheddar Cornbread with whipped orange mascarpone butter. Sweet treats including “Chicken Feed” Ice Cream Sandwich with house-made chocolate chip cookies, Three Twins caramel ice cream, and caramel corn, Granny Smith Apple Crisp served with Three Twins vanilla ice cream, and Dark Chocolate Espresso Cake round out the menu.

Chicken Pharm will also serve brunch on Sundays from 10am – 3pm. Highlights from the brunch menu include Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffles; Smoked Chicken Benedict with Leadbetter’s English muffins and wild arugula; Breakfast Tacos with Petaluma eggs, Black Pig bacon, black beans, avocado and pico de gallo; and Buckwheat Banana Pancakes with Marshall Farms honey.

The Chicken Pharm team has selected a draft beer line-up, twelve in total, that includes local-favorites from Lagunitas, Bear Republic and HenHouse. A variety of fun, flavor-forward cocktails, in addition to a selection of local wines, round out the beverage program. On the cocktail side, guests can expect to find approachable creations, many made with local spirits from Sonoma Brothers Distilling, Alley 6 Craft Distillery, and Griffo Distillery, that were designed to evoke memories, and many which pay homage to the Petaluma area. The Must Be Your Mama’s Car, Chicken Pharm’s bloody mary garnished with a housemade biscuit, is a subtle nod to the classic American Graffiti scene (filmed in Petaluma). Howard The Duck, also filmed in Petaluma,0 gets a shout-out with the Okey-Dokey (Griffo gin, blackberries, lemon). Other highlights include the Ruffles Feathers (prosecco, jasmine bliss kombucha, elderflower) and the Patio Mule (bourbon, pear, ginger, lime, ginger beer).

Designed by Hilary Rossi, Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage for The Patio Group, Chicken Pharm’s open, inviting space features an eclectic blend of farmhouse style décor coupled with a “Petaluma-feel” sensibility, reflecting the casual nature of the food and overall dining experience. The restaurant gives guests a welcoming vibe from the minute they walk through the doors, with plenty of natural light and windows that open to bring the feel of the outdoors, in. Petaluma-based design companies, Heritage Salvage and Sons of Salvage, were brought in to transform the vision of the space using reclaimed woods and other materials to create the tables, walls, mirrors, furniture, and more, truly bringing the farmhouse feel to life.

The restaurant offers its guests a variety of seating options. The main dining room has 110 total seats, including 20 at the wrap-around bar and seating for up to 14 at The Roost, an incredibly impressive table made of a single slab of Maple with an iron base. Chicken Pharm’s private dining room, The Coop, is available for group dining and events, with three big screen TVs, two couches, additional lounge seating, as well as numerous wood tables. The outdoor patio will have 36 stools for dining, with the remainder of the space available for guests to lounge with drinks or snacks, and an area for playing corn hole.
