City Winery Washington D.C. will add a working winery and live music to the robust community of neighborhood businesses in Northeast D.C.’s booming Ivy City neighborhood. Operating as a world-class concert venue, award-winning urban winery, restaurant, and private event space, City Winery Washington D.C. promises to be the new go-to destination for residents and visitors seeking an immersive experience any night of the week. City Winery Washington D.C. will be the seasoned brand’s sixth location established over a decade of pouring wine and presenting unparalleled entertainment to guests, following five other dynamic iterations serving New York City, Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, and Boston. In addition to slating an impressive roster of nationally touring musical performers, guests at City Winery Washington D.C. will be able to enjoy exclusive wines made with premium California and Oregon grapes sourced from City Winery’s longstanding partner vineyards.

The 40,000-square foot space will feature a 175-seat restaurant and private dining room for groups of 45 to 75, an intimate 320-seat performance venue that will offer tableside dining and beverage service, and a vibrant rooftop with sweeping views of D.C. including the U.S. Capitol Building. The cornerstone of City Winery is a ground level working winery separated from the performance space by glass walls and visible to restaurant and concert patrons. Equipped with a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound system, City Winery will present approximately 300 shows per year and feature an impressive roster of the most respected names in pop, rock, jazz, blues, and world music, in addition to comedians and spoken word artists. World-renowned artists, including Gregg Allman, Sinead O’Connor, Aaron Neville, Patti Smith, Kris Kristofferson, and D.C.’s own Citizen Cope have performed on stages at City Winery locations around the country, providing guests with a concert experience unlike any other.

City Winery founder and music industry veteran Michael Dorf says of the forthcoming location, “I have had my eye on D.C. since 2013, following our successful opening in Chicago. Ivy City has the same energy and is teeming with potential. I think our location off New York Avenue is shaping up to be a perfect location for us—to complement the outstanding craft beer, spirits, coffee and makers nearby.” He continues, “We love the idea of bringing great wine, food, and live music to our neighbors, giving everyone a new reason to come out to Ivy City.”

Diners and concertgoers can select from an extensive wine list, featuring more than 400 wines, plus house-made City Winery selections available on tap – all served alongside wine-inspired, locally-sourced dishes with Mediterranean influences and flavor. City Winery began as the first urban winery in New York City and quickly became a trailblazer in sourcing the best grapes available. The brand’s rapid success has allowed Dorf and his team to be highly selective of the fruit sourced from notable vineyards in Napa and Sonoma, generating an unmatched product for consumers.

City Winery Washington D.C. will offer its signature VinoFile memberships, a program intended for individuals interested in joining the winemaking process. Members have opportunities to help select grapes, get involved in the crush, or the aging, blending, bottling and labeling processes.  Given that shows sell out quickly, members enjoy pre-sale access to tickets, selective seating, and other perks throughout the year.

For private events, the multi-level space, including a partially enclosed expansive rooftop, accommodates groups of 10-1,000 for seated dinners and wine tastings, elegant wedding ceremonies and receptions, business meetings, and corporate events. City Winery will offer busy urbanites the benefits of a wine country experience in the middle of the city. Washington area audiences can expect to enjoy an eclectic and high caliber mix of classic and emerging artists, in addition to food and wine classes, hands-on wine blending, and myriad exciting special events.
