Popular Dallas Thai restaurant, Asian Mint, will open its fourth location this fall at 300 W. Campbell Rd, Suite 140 in Richardson.
Chef/owner, Nikky Phinyawatana plans to convert her EnjoyMint Restaurant into her award winning original full-service concept, ASIAN MINT. EnjoyMint is currently operating at this address but will end service on August 30. Following a four-week renovation, Asian Mint will be open for business by end of September.
Phinyawatana says, “When we opened EnjoyMint back in 2018, we thought it would resonate with the neighborhood by offering quick-serve Asian food. What we have come to realize is the old saying: if it isn’t broken…don’t fix it.”
There is a big demand for take-out orders so the restaurant plans to add a dedicated door and counter just for take-out. “Take out has become an easy way for families to enjoy Asian Mint’s food, so we plan to cater to those dining habits as well,” Phinyawatana says.
Asian Mint offers New Bangkok style cuisine combined with other Asian influences using only the freshest ingredients. The menu offers a variety of Curry dishes, Fried Rice, Soups, Pad Thai and Stir Fry. The restaurant also has a full-service bar, beer, organic wines and mocktails. Monthly cooking classes will also take place at this location.
Standout dishes include Pad Kee Mow – Wide Rice Noodles, Spicy Thai Chili Basil Soy, Thai Basil, Egg, Red Bell Pepper, Tomato and Romaine Lettuce; Crab Fried Rice – Crabmeat, Jasmine White Rice, Egg, Green Onion garnished with Fresh Cucumbers and Fresh Tomatoes; Red Curry – Red Curry, Coconut Milk, Bamboo Shoot, Thai Basil and Red Bell Pepper; Pad Thai – Thai Rice Noodle, Shrimp, Chicken, Tofu, House Made Pad Thai Sauce, Egg, Green Onion, Bean Spouts, and Peanuts.
Phinyawatana realized an opportunity 15 years ago to create a restaurant where guests could have fresh Thai food in a clean, modern atmosphere while enjoying a nice bottle of wine, Asian inspired cocktails and end the night with a selection of house-made Asian inspired desserts. Growing up in Bangkok, she grew accustomed to Thai food being a quality dining experience with fresh ingredients prepared in a healthy and approachable way and felt compelled to bring this to the Dallas dining scene back in 2004.
Phinyawatana is not just passionate about feeding people’s belly’s but also passionate about feeding souls. She recently launched a YouTube channel called NIKKY FEEDING SOULS where she shared where expertise in Thai food, culture, and travel. She has also packaged her award-winning sauces for sale and is working on her first cookbook.
Asian Mint opened its first location in 2004 at Forest Lane and Central Expressway with Oak Lawn Avenue in 2008 and another in Inwood Village following in 2017. Richardson will be the 4th location for Asian Mint – a staple of Dallas’ Asian dining landscape.
