TransAct Technologies Incorporated, a global leader in market-specific solutions, including printers, terminals, software, and other products for transaction-based and other industries, announced the Company’s participation at the 2014 Multi-Unit Restaurant Technology Conference (MURTEC). Bringing together over 500 restaurant, technology, finance, and operations executives along with industry solutions providers, MURTEC 2014 will be held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 18–20. Headlining the Company’s display at Booth 63 will be its innovative Ithaca 9700 food safety terminal.

The innovative Ithaca 9700 food safety terminal is designed to improve back-of-house restaurant and food service operations by saving time, cutting food waste, and reducing both labor costs and the risk of food spoilage. With a large, easy-to-read 8.4-inch color touch screen display, the Ithaca 9700 quickly prints easy-to-read expiration and “enjoy by” date labels. The PC-based terminal also allows operators to quickly change their menu items, print accurate calorie counts on food items, and generate accurate “prep” and “grab-and-go” labels via an internal real-time clock. Available in 1- or 2-printer configurations, the Ithaca 9700 offers simple drop-in label loading and can handle a variety of label widths and lengths.

Since entering production in October 2012, the Ithaca 9700 has proven worldwide its ability to drive efficiency and operational benefits for quick service and casual restaurants. Kitchens using the terminal report a two-hour time savings per day, an annual savings of $2,000 through the reduction of food waste and a 100 percent increase in the accuracy of their food labels. To-date, TransAct has participated in trials for over 150 potential Ithaca 9700 customers, encompassing over 70 restaurant companies in more than six countries, representing an attractive aggregate opportunity of approximately 100,000 terminals. The Company is also committed to ongoing work with customers to further customize the terminal and improve its design and operation, further enhancing its customer appeal, and leading to increased sales traction and continued customer acceptance.

In addition to the Ithaca 9700, TransAct will also feature the Ithaca 9000, a highly versatile, multi-function solution that allows foodservice vendors to print receipts, sticky grill labels, and sticky custom beverage labels from a single printer. Featuring the industry’s fastest print speed at 12 inches per second, the Ithaca 9000 accommodates plain or sticky thermal paper of three different sizes and can automatically sense the paper size loaded and reconfigure itself accordingly.
