K2 Restaurants to Open New Next Gen Food Hall in Santa Monica
Hospitality Group K2 Restaurants, owned by John Kolaski, is launching SocialEats, a new micro food hall concept optimized for local appeal, operational efficiency, and prime scale ability. The first SocialEats will open inside The Gallery in Santa Monica this summer with a lineup ranging from globally recognized to local rising stars, including Fuku from Momofuku and K2 original concept Supertoro. SocialEats adds to K2’s growing portfolio of original concepts and celebrity chef partnerships throughout Southern California.
“We’re proud to introduce SocialEats; what we believe to be the next generation food hall,” says Kolaski. “SocialEats introduces a new era of the social dining destination, incubating new concepts alongside those proven successful, while streamlining operations under a single collaborative strategy that paves the way for rapid expansion. We’re honored to bring the very first Fuku to the West Coast market within our flagship location and provide food enthusiasts with a variety of other exciting concepts to experience.”
SocialEats is slated to install an outpost of Fuku, which will serve a selection of fan favorites such as Fuku’s Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich, Fuku Fingers, and slushies. Additional concepts within SocialEats include Supertoro (a K2 original Japanese fast casual sushi bar in partnership with SuperTrio Restaurants), Adelaide (a daytime coffee meets cookie bar featuring Vittoria Coffee turned wine bar at night), Street Noods (Asian-inspired street noodles), Cada Vez (a Spanish pintxos counter), and more.
K2 Restaurants will open SocialEats on the first floor of The Gallery mid-summer 2019, marking the completion of the Santa Monica food hall, with a second Las Vegas Strip location of SocialEats already in development. In 2020, K2 plans to scale SocialEats to additional markets throughout the US.
Future SocialEats may include K2 Restaurant’s existing concepts Azulé Taqueria, a beach inspired street taco shop, STRFSH, a fast-casual fish sandwich shop in partnership with the Voltaggio Brothers, and Paperboy Pizza, a rock n’ roll neighborhood pizzeria in partnership with Jeremy Fall. K2 Restaurants will also actively scout local chefs from each market and bring light to emerging culinary experts, with plans to pursue innovative technology resources that will bring the in-store food hall experience into a digital marketplace.
Launched in 2018 by hospitality veteran John Kolaski, K2 is headquartered in Los Angeles with operations across the United States.
