Kontos Foods, Inc., a U.S.-based manufacturer and distributor of traditional Greek and Mediterranean foods, announced that during this holiday season the company has donated over 250 cases of Pita Bread, Flatbread and Baklava to organizations dedicated to fighting hunger and poverty in New Jersey. The estimated retail value of the donations is about $10,000. Local charity recipients include Community FoodBank of New Jersey and Hilltop Haven, a women and children shelter based in Paterson, N.J.

Kontos Foods donated several types of flatbread, including its White Pocket-Less Pita, Grilled Panini Bread and ethnic Tandoori Nan. Additionally, Kontos donated 12 cases of Classic Greek Baklava. Donations of various products were made to both the Community FoodBank and Hilltop Haven.

“Poverty is pervasive in our community and nationwide, making it difficult for many families to put food on the table every night. Kontos, hearkening to its charitable Greek roots, is once again partnering with places like the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and Hilltop Haven to try to make this holiday season a little nicer for those in need,” says Steve Kontos, vice president of Kontos Foods.
