Management Moves: E La Carte
E la Carte, a Silicon Valley technology company that builds guest-facing technology for restaurants, names former OpenTable executive John Martin as its head of sales.
The company’s main product, the Presto tablet, allows guests to browse detailed menus with enticing pictures, place orders, split checks, and make payments—all from the comfort of their restaurant table and without having to wait.
Martin has been a highly successful executive and sales leader in restaurant technology companies, mostly notably his 12 year stint at OpenTable where he was the first sales staff hired and saw the company through to a successful IPO.
He climbed his way to director of sales, landing accounts such as The French Laundry, Marriott International, and Kimpton Group along the way.
He previously managed restaurants himself, including Greens in San Francisco and has over 23 years of experience in the restaurant business.
“We’re very excited to have such a proven sales executive as John join the E la Carte team,” said Rajat Suri, CEO of the company. “His ability to bring guest-facing restaurant technology to market is well-known. I am very confident that his experience and leadership in building sales teams will help E la Carte grow even further.”
“I’m enormously excited to be joining E la Carte—with its momentum in the marketplace and powerful technology platform, the company has built a unique and robust foundation from which to scale,” says Martin.
“E la Carte is well positioned to deliver an incredible guest facing experience that will change the way restaurants and diners interact. Much the same way OpenTable changed the reservation book, E la Carte is best positioned to change the guest experience at the table. "
Effective immediately, Martin will assume leadership of E la Carte’s sales organization and channel programs. In this new role, he will help customers and partners maximize opportunities to adopt E la Carte’s Presto tablets and services within their restaurants.
Martin is tasked to build a national sales team to meet the ever-increasing demand for E la Carte services in the fast-growing restaurant technology marketplace.
