Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, managing editors at Bloomberg Politics, during the 2016 election cycle, will address the National Restaurant Association’s 31st annual Public Affairs Conference. The Conference will be held on March 28-29, with Halperin and Heilemann addressing the attendees on March 28.

Halperin and Heilemann will address more than 500 restaurateurs from across the country as they convene in Washington to meet with lawmakers and discuss key legislation and policy issues impacting the foodservice industry.

“We are excited that Mark and John will be speaking to our membership as the new Administration and Congress begin to lay the legislative groundwork for the years ahead. Their knowledge and insight on the national political scene will help our restaurateurs as they take to Capitol Hill to educate and advocate on behalf of our industry,” says Cicely Simpson, Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and Policy.

Halperin and Heilemann are co-authors of the international bestsellers Game Change and Double Down (on the 2008 and 2012 elections). During the last election cycle, the pair served as the creators, executive producers and hosts of Showtime’s political documentary series The Circus, produced in cooperation with Bloomberg Politics. Halperin and Heilemann both appear on MSNBC as regular contributors to Morning Joe and are frequent guests on Charlie Rose.

The National Restaurant Association’s 2017 Public Affairs Conference theme, “Restaurants Open Doors,” is part of the Association’s ongoing campaign to highlight the numerous opportunities the industry provides. With more than one million locations nationwide, the restaurant industry is the nation’s second-largest private sector employer of more than 14.4 million individuals. One in three Americans got their first job experience in a restaurant.

During the conference, attendees will participate in Capitol Hill meetings where they will provide members of Congress and their staff with first-hand experiences articulating the need for pro-growth policies, including reforms to the Affordable Care Act, as well as tax incentives, and immigration reform.
