The Merrychef eikon e2s—the smallest high-speed oven with the largest cavity to footprint ratio—has been awarded one of the Green GOOD DESIGNTM Awards. The prestigious Good Design awards, founded in 1950 by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design has this year joined forces with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies to present the new Green Good Design Awards. This new edition of Good Design aims to bestow international recognition to companies, organizations, governments, institutions and individuals who demonstrate an inspired and exceptional level of progress towards a more sustainable and ‘Green’ way of working.

The Good Design awards remain the world’s oldest and most recognized program for design excellence worldwide. In 2016, The Museum and European Centre for Architecture received submissions for the new award from hundreds of the world’s leading manufacturers eager to be recognized for their work. Only a handful of these submissions are approved to use the prestigious Green Good Design logo and Welbilt is delighted that the Merrychef eikon e2s was one of those to hit the high standards required.

Merrychef eikon e2s models boast high-speed cooking up to twenty times faster than a conventional oven, excellent finished products and a multi-award winning design, further emphasized by this latest achievement.

In addition to the dedication to perfect, quick cooking functions, the Merrychef eikon e2s is also the best in class in terms of performance in measureable green features, including standby energy, noise levels and easiness to clean. What’s more, the entire process right from the product design, manufacturing methods and supply chain partners is dedicated to delivering sustained improvements to the Merrychef environmental performance. The result of this continued dedication to sustainability and the environment from Welbilt is the awarding of the new and highly regarded Green Good Design Award.

This latest award is yet another addition to the Merrychef eikon e2s’ collection and is yet further recognition from the industry for the latest addition to the Merrychef portfolio. Graham Veal, Vice President Marketing EMEA comments:

“It is important that Merrychef products are recognised for the cutting edge design and dedication to sustainability that forms a key part of our research, development and manufacturing process. Most importantly however, is that our products are designed with simplicity at their heart; simple to install, simple to use and simple to clean and maintain.  We are honoured to have now received recognition from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies with this new award.”
