Metro Diner Declares August 8 National Fried Chicken & Waffle Day

July 31, 2018 Industry News

Metro Diner, known for serious diner food, declared that August 8 will be the inaugural National Fried Chicken & Waffle Day. To mark this date, the popular concept is serving up their beloved Fried Chicken & Waffle dish for just $9.99 (regularly $15.99).

Diners who celebrate the first ever Fried Chicken & Waffle Day at Metro Diner will enjoy a Belgian waffle topped with sweet, strawberry butter and half a fried chicken, served with the diner’s signature sweet and spicy sauce. For ultimate flavor, the diner prepares their chicken for 48 hours prior to serving, first brining it for 24 hours and then marinating for an additional 24 hours for maximum flavor and juiciness. Already serving over 250,000 orders of Fried Chicken & Waffle in the first half of this year, Metro Diner is on track for half a million orders by the end of 2018. That amounts to over twelve hundred orders a day.

“We are giving fried chicken and waffles their very own day to honor just how special, delicious and popular the dish is across the country and to celebrate with our favorite people, our guests,” says Crafton Bryant, Director of Marketing for Metro Diner. “Since debuting our Fried Chicken & Waffle in 2010, the sweet, savory and spicy dish has become an award-winning menu item and all-around crowd pleaser.”

Metro Diner is familiar to fans of the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, hosted by celebrity chef Guy Fieri, which featured the diner in an episode. Established in 1992 by the Davoli family with a single eatery in Jacksonville, Metro Diner is among the nation’s fastest growing family dining concepts with 61 locations across the country. Metro Diner’s mouth-watering dishes are fresh, made-from-scratch and prepared with the highest quality ingredients. The large portion sizes offer great value for all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Already a favorite in Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Virginia, this year, the company will open its first locations in New Jersey, South Carolina and Tennessee for a total of more than 75 diners by the end of 2018.
