As we’re all still reeling from Monday night’s first presidential debate, Schlafly Beer introduces one reason to look forward to the back-and-forth banter: a special election-inspired beer with POTUS, a limited-release American lager from the largest, independent craft brewer in St. Louis.

The 5.0% light-bodied crisp, clean lager features Bullion and Tettnang hops as well as corn for local flavor and character. The beer will be on tap at both the Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Ave.) and Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust St.) starting Friday, September 30, as well as a select number of bars and restaurants.

Schlafly created the POTUS beer as St. Louis will be in the spotlight as Washington University in St. Louis hosts both candidates for the next presidential debate on Sunday, October 9. The brewery’s Bottleworks location will host a ‘Pints for POTUS’ event that night with free Americana food, debate viewing and candidate-glassware with the purchase of a pint of POTUS (see more below).

CEO James Pendegraft states, "We believe that beer is truly bi-partisan and wanted to let our patrons’ thirst be heard. The idea of the glassware was to show that despite our differences of opinion and ideas, we can find common ground over an uncommonly great beer.”

Schlafly Beer also created special candidate-affiliated glassware. Show your vote with a Clinton or Trump pint of POTUS. Fed up with our current political climate? You can also choose to raise the ominous black pint glass and just support local beer. POTUS and the glassware will be available until the election or while supplies last. The glassware will also be available for separate purchase for $4 in the brewpub retail areas.
