Rockit Bar and Grill announced the opening of its recently renovated rock-themed bar and restaurant just in time for Chicago’s biggest music festival, Lollapalooza. The venue held a Grand Opening party on Friday, August 3 at 4 p.m. with a live performance from popular Chicago rock band, The Orwells. Located in the heart of the River North entertainment district, the newly revived Rockit Bar & Grill sits at 22 W. Hubbard Street, where it was established 15 years ago as one of the first pioneers of this now iconic and vibrant Chicago neighborhood.

After a complete revamp, Rockit Bar & Grill now features a refreshed rock-inspired atmosphere with rough, natural finishes including exposed brick, raw timbers, touches of steel, and several walls covered in vintage concert posters, as well as a pared down menu of casual American comfort foods and a bar program that’s simple, straightforward and fun.

Featured menu items include:

  • Rockit Pockits ($8) – copped steak, American cheese, sautéed onions, crispy wrap
  • Rockit Burger ($19) – wagyu beef, brie cheese, fried shallots, date aioli, onion brioche bun
  • Green Day Salad ($14) – rainbow kale, baby kale, kohlrabi, arugula, brussels sprouts, napa cabbage, red cabbage, radicchio, carrots, chilled grilled sweet chili shrimp, garlic vinaigrette, toasted sunflower seeds

“In addition to our updated menu, which still features several classics from our original hit list, we’ve also fundamentally revived our concept as a cool, comfortable place to hang out with friends, grab a bite, play pool, watch the game and rock out to great music,” says partner Brad Young. “Our revamped interior now features an open concept on both floors, more TVs for a better viewing experience and décor that reflects a gritty, down-to-earth neighborhood feel.”

The renovated space has been designed to provide guests with a casual, playful atmosphere featuring interactive elements like pool tables, shuffleboard, live band karaoke and vintage motorcycle installations to promote a casual energy that encourages an all-day party.

And with a new focus on bringing even more live music into the space, starting with a live performance from Chicago’s very own The Orwells on Friday, August 3rd, Rockit Bar & Grill will now also feature Live Music Happy Hours, hosted every Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with specials that include $5 select beer, house wines, and well cocktails, as well as $7.95 Happy Burger, Wings, Poutine and Chicken Strips.

“There have never been as many talented rock bands making as many incredible records as there are in pop culture today,” adds Young. “With our Rockit Bar & Grill revival, we’re embracing our original rock roots to give people what they are missing in Chicago’s nightlife scene – a one stop shop to eat, drink and rock.”
