One in six children struggles with hunger in the U.S.

This past September, Salsarita’s Fresh Mexican Grill joined thousands of restaurants nationwide in fundraising for the “No Kid Hungry” campaign, an initiative that connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals.

During the month of September, with the help of guests, 46 Salsarita’s restaurants donated a total of $19,046.

Guests who donated online were rewarded with free Salsarita’s or discounted menu items. For in–store donations, guests were given a scratch–off card to redeem special offers.

“No Kid Hungry,” sponsored by anti–hunger nonprofit Share Our Strength, seeks to end childhood hunger in America by connecting children with healthy foods they need. Funds raised will help spread awareness about child hunger in the U.S.; create public–private partnerships that align kids with the resources they need; support nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals; and educate kids and their families about cooking healthy meals with limited resources.

Salsarita’s is proud to support “No Kid Hungry” this year in restaurants across the nation, and looks forward to expanding their participation further in the years to come.

“We’re so thrilled to have played a role in contributing to ‘No Kid Hungry,’” says Phil Friedman, Salsarita’s CEO. “This will help ensure that every child in America has access to the nutritious food they need, every day.”
