It’s official, The Sicilian Butcher is home to the title for GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Largest Negroni cocktail. Sheldon Wiley, director of beverage for The Maggiore Group, made the classic cocktail inside a 500 liter oak barrel using equal parts of three premium Italian spirit brands: Carpano Antica Formula, Malfy Gin Originale and Campari. The giant classic cocktail measured in at an official volume of 504 liters! The event took place  yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, October 24, 2018) at The Sicilian Butcher in Phoenix, Ariz.

A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Adjudicator was on hand to witness Wiley fill the oak barrel with 14 cases each of Carpano, Malfy Gin Originale and Campari. This is Wiley’s third GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title and a first for The Maggiore Group and The Sicilian Butcher.

“The Negroni is my favorite cocktail,” says The Sicilian Butcher Owner, Joey Maggiore. “There is no place better than The Sicilian Butcher to hold this GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title.”

Once the drink was made, guests had the chance to purchase a Negroni tapped straight from the barrel for $5 each. A portion of the proceeds from each drink sold went to the Pearce Family Foundation, a local nonprofit committed to financially supporting bills at the home for families who have a child suffering from a chronic or life threatening illness as they get back on their feet.

“This was the most challenging GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title I’ve ever done,” Wiley says. “It really could not have been possible without the help of my team at The Sicilian Butcher and our partners, Carpano Antica Formula, Malfy Gin Originale and Campari.”

The Sicilian Butcher combines skilled butchery and creative dishes at a modern-casual restaurant. The choose-your-own-meatball and build-your-own charcuterie board experience is unlike anywhere else. The hand-rolled meatballs and saucy attitude pair well with fresh-made pastas and Italian butcher-style meats.

The Maggiore Group is a family-owned and operated restaurant group based in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Maggiore family opened its first restaurant, Tomaso’s, in Phoenix on the Camelback Corridor in 1977.
