This fall, TAO Group partners, Marc Packer, Rich Wolf, Noah Tepperberg, and Jason Strauss, will unveil three new concepts within Moxy Times Square, a dynamic design-driven hotel set to open September 2017. Located in the epicenter of New York City, where uptown and downtown converge, the venture features new eating and drinking destinations including: LEGASEA, a Seafood Brasserie; Egghead, an egg-centric all-day breakfast sandwich shop; and Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge, New York City’s largest hotel rooftop open all season. TAO Group will also oversee all additional food and beverage offerings within Moxy Times Square including Bar Moxy and The Pickup.

TAO Group has collaborated with Lightstone, one of the largest and most diversified privately held real estate companies in the United States, to develop the concepts behind the collection of new venues at Moxy Times Square. Each space from TAO Group will assume its own unique atmosphere and promises to make a major impact on the dining and nightlife landscape of New York City.

“From the beginning, we knew that this would be a different kind of project for us,” says Noah Tepperberg, co-president, TAO Group. “In conceptualizing the venues, we focused on attitude rather than exclusivity. If you’re here to have fun, no problem!”

Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge—New York City’s largest indoor/outdoor hotel rooftop bar and lounge features an “urban amusement park” concept with an adult sensibility and epic Empire State Building skyline views. Highlights of the 10,000 square foot rooftop include carousel seating, an oversized topiary garden, and Foreplay, a miniature putt-putt, featuring life-size animals in naughty poses. The vast, all-season rooftop comprises multiple bars and seating areas, each with a distinct vibe and design sensibility to provide an endless stream of indelible moments. A menu of shareable light bites is full of modern takes on classic “State Fair” items including Sausage & Peppers, Maine Lobster Roll, Duck Carnitas Tacos, and the Carnival Burger. A unique and cheeky addition to the menu is the option to book one of the hotel’s nineteen Crashpads ($99.00) – meant for those who may have had a few too many rounds on the carousel or simply don’t want the night to end. Nightly live DJs and a list of decadent cocktails—along with beer, wine, Champagne, and spirits—add to the sense of indulgence and amusement. Reservations will be accepted every night of the week and hotel guests will receive priority rooftop access.

LEGASEA—Led by Executive Chef Jason Hall (formerly of Craft and Gotham Bar & Grill) and TAO Group Partner/Chef Ralph Scamardella, the 145-seat Seafood Brasserie will update the classic seafood dining experience by serving up local, sustainable dishes in a modern and vivacious atmosphere. LEGASEA’s menu includes the Clam Bake (lobster, clams, scallops, corn, new potatoes), an impressive raw bar, large market-driven salads, and entrées such as Prime Rib and Crispy Chatham Cod, a twist on the classic fish & chips. The design of the restaurant amplifies the convivial vibe. Guests will be greeted by a spacious atrium whose globe pendant lamps float beneath a generous skylight. A myriad of colored tiles, polished copper and leather accents provide a warm, tactile environment with subtle nods to nautical themes. The elegant 20-seat private dining room has a woven cane ceiling, painted lacquered wall panels, and embossed leather chairs.

Egghead—TAO Group’s official entre into NYC’s fast casual dining space, a cozy, egg-centric sandwich shop offering a menu of multiple versions of the classic breakfast sandwich. The fanatical approach to the ideal egg sandwich brings life to Egghead’s signature dish made with fresh-baked potato bread and eggs and cheese from upstate New York farms. All offerings on the all-day menu of contemporary comfort food will be prepared with ingredients that are locally sourced or made on-site. Egghead is conveniently located on street level, facing 7th Avenue.

The three new TAO Group destinations including Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Grill, LEGASEA and Egghead were designed by Rockwell Group. The design collaboration focused on creating playful environments that would appeal to guests and locals alike at Moxy Times Square.

Bar Moxy—Flooded with natural light thanks to a dramatic, triple-height atrium, the second-floor Bar Moxy serves as the social heart of the hotel, centered around a magnificent copper-wrapped bar. With an inviting all-day menu of small bites and cocktails available, its flexible seating areas serve as collaborative workspaces during the day and transition seamlessly into a buzzing lounge as the sun goes down.

The Pickup—Located on the second floor adjacent to Bar Moxy, The Pickup upgrades the typical humdrum grab-and-go café with easy, appealing, and wholesome options for a quick bite. Freshly prepared signature salads—dressed and tossed upon request—hearty sandwiches, fresh fruit, and ice cream sandwiches from local purveyors are ideal for visitors embarking on a day of sightseeing, business travelers between back-to-back meetings, or a passersby looking to satisfy a sweet tooth.
