More than five years in the making, Chef Thomas Keller is opening a new restaurant in Miami in early 2018.

The restaurant from Keller, the chef behind landmarks French Laundry in California and Per Se in New York City, is explained by The Miami Herald as his “first concept restaurant, drawing inspiration from the history of the The Surf Club as playground for the elite, the place where Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack threw wild parties, where Liz Taylor, Gary Cooper and Tennessee Williams escaped to the water, where Winston Churchill could be seen painting watercolors in a cabana.”

The menu and style of cuisine hasn’t been revealed, only that it will represent America’s golden age, according to The Miami Herald. The article does add, however, that Keller’s new restaurant won’t try to replicate the fine-dining standard of French Laundry.

The restaurant will be housed in the forthcoming Surf Club Four Seasons hotel.
