Look for the True Source Honey Certified mark to make sure you are receiving ethically and transparently sourced honey.

Unfortunately, some honey brokers and importers illegally circumvent tariffs and quality controls, selling Chinese honey to U.S. companies that is of questionable quality. True Source Honey LLC, a nonprofit organization representing beekeepers, honey packers and honey importers, has developed the True Source Certified voluntary system of traceability. To be certified, honey companies participate in independent third party audits that document that their sourcing practices are in full compliance with U.S. and international trade laws. This system permits honey to be tracked from the foodservice operation back through the supply chain to the country of origin and the beekeeper that harvested the honey from the beehive.
