Zuma New York Introduces Friday 'Yashoku' Party Series

Zuma New York, a modern Japanese restaurant, puts Midtown Manhattan on the Friday night party map this fall with the new, reservation-only “Yashoku” party series. Named after the Japanese word for “midnight snack,” Yashoku Friday nights debut October 20, offering New Yorkers a refreshing mix of late-night revelry and modern Japanese cuisine. On Friday nights, guests will enjoy everything Zuma is beloved for around the world: delicious food, excellent drinks, and outstanding hospitality, paired with great music by a live DJ and a fantastic lounge atmosphere unlike any other midtown restaurant. Guests can make a reservation by phone or email to reserve their place at the party, as well as the limited, Friday-only Yashoku Omakase, a 3-course menu available exclusively Friday evenings at 9:00 PM.

Zuma’s Friday Yashoku party starts with Chef Lange’s Yashoku Omakase, a limited, 3-course menu ($49/pp, drinks additional) that sets the tone for a convivial and relaxed night out. On arrival, guests at the once-a-week dinner will be guided to the restaurant’s upstairs lounge, where inviting leather seats and low tables imbue a hospitable and celebratory dining atmosphere. First courses include composed plates like Softshell Crab with Mizuna and Wasabi Mayo, Spicy Fried Tofu with Avocado and Japanese Herbs, and Salmon Tataki with Shiso, Lime-Soy, Sesame and Mustard Mayo, followed by a second course of exquisite sushi. The meal continues with a selection from Zuma’s signature robata grill, including restaurant favorites Salmon Teriyaki, Barley Miso Chicken, and Spicy Beef Tenderloin. Drink specials will complement the meal, with featured champagne offered by the glass as well as cocktails from $14-16 like Zuma’s Mojito, Tom Collins or the popular Whisky Highball.

After enjoying the Yashoku Omakase, guests are invited to revel at the lounge bar, where additional partygoers will be admitted starting at 10 PM for by-the-glass champagne offerings, signature cocktails specials, as well as champagne and spirits bottle specials. Guests arriving hungry or working up an appetite can order from the Yashoku bar menu, inspired by a mix of Japanese street food and Izakaya favorites. Intriguing dishes include wagyu tartar with truffle ponzu and miso bun, steamed pork buns with pickled cucumber and yakiniku sauce, and buttermilk fried chicken with yuzu and lemon yogurt dip among other delectable bites.

To keep the party going well into the night, Zuma resident DJ, Deejay Timka, curates a playlist to welcome the weekend’s arrival, complemented by entertainment from a rotating selection of musicians, including saxophone player Johan Khishiski and Sarina Suno, “The Violin Diva.” To top off the evening, each Friday will take on a distinctly celebratory vibe, as champagne partners are featured at “Midnight Magnum Sessions”, with bar staff sabering large format bottles of champagne as the clock strikes midnight, officially toasting the evening with a pop and fizz.

The new weekly Friday Yashoku party series will begin on October 20, with reservations open now for the 9:00 PM Yashoku Omakase, and lounge, open 10 PM to 2 AM.
