Not Your Average Joe’s, a 22-unit concept with projected revenue of nearly $80 million in 2018, appointed industry veteran Peter D’Amelio chairman and chief executive officer, the company announced. D’Amelio spent 18 years at The Cheesecake Factory, including five as president, and was most recently CEO of Matchbox Food Group. He stepped down from that role in August 2017.

Not Your Average Joe’s founder Stephen Silverstein is shifting into a director and consulting position after 24 years heading the brand, which has 1,600 employees and serves 4.5 million guests per year across six states. Bruckman, Rosser, Sherrill & Co. is a stakeholder in Not Your Average Joe’s.

“It is time for Not Your Average Joe’s to transition from being founder led, I couldn’t be more pleased than to turn the reins over to Peter,” Silverstein said in a statement.

Silverstein purchased the Dartmouth Not Your Average Joe’s location—the original store—and will operate it as an independent licensee of the company.

“Owning and running Dartmouth will be full circle for me, allowing me to continue to contribute to the company I founded in new ways. I am pleased to continue to serve on the Board of Directors and I will do everything I can to help Not Your Average Joe’s grow into the national powerhouse it should be,” he said.

D’Amelio, who previously served as president and COO of Cooper’s Hawk as well, joined Not Your Average Joe’s as president in September 2017.

“I am humbled and honored to be selected to lead Not Your Average Joe’s. I will build on Steve’s vision of scratch food at affordable prices coupled with best of class hospitality. I couldn’t be more excited for the future,” D’Amelio said in a statement.
