Pancakes the size of pizza? In honor of National Pizza Day on February 9, IHOP teamed up with DoorDash to bring guests a pizza-sized breakfast dish— the Pancizza.

“We pride ourselves in partnering with the best restaurants in the country to create unique, memorable delivery offerings for our customers,” said Christopher Payne, chief operating officer at DoorDash, in a statement. “We’re thrilled to announce this limited-edition Pancizza with IHOP to take breakfast in bed—or any time of day—to the next level.”

From February 8 to February 10, guests in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, and New York can order the Pancizza. The 7-inch Pancizza (pronounced Pan-keet-za) comes in three flavors: Buttermilk, Cupcake, and Bacon and Cheddar.

“Our chefs even came up with three tasty Pancizza flavors: the OG Buttermilk, the sweet Cupcake, and, my personal favorite, the Bacon and Cheddar Pancizza,” adds Brad Haley, chief marketing officer, IHOP, in a statement. “It’s got just the right amount of sweetness from the pancake ‘dough’ to complement the savory bacon and cheddar toppings. While the Pancizzas are only available in select IHOP locations, our guests can place an order for their favorite menu items at any IHOP restaurant serviced by DoorDash and the delivery fee will be waived for an entire week.”

Those who order the special dish from IHOP will receive a custom-made DoorDash x IHOP branded pizza box. The boxes also have spots for a variety of IHOP syrups you can try with the Pancizza. Using the code PANCIZZA, first-time DoorDash users will get their hands on the specialty food item along with anything else on the menu with a $0 delivery fee.

In New York City, IHOP is taking over Bleecker Street Pizza, a famous New York City pizzeria, to set up a Pancizzeria Shop. Visitors can grab a free slice of Pancizza at the pop-up between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Pancizza fans can purchase a limited edition Pancizza T-shirt from the PancakeWear Collection at the pop up or online at shoppancakewear.com starting Thursday.

The Pancizza special is not only celebrating national pizza day, but it also marks a delivery milestone for IHOP and DoorDash. Online ordering and delivery services through DoorDash are now available at more than 1,000 IHOP restaurants.

“IHOP has a lot of milestones to celebrate with our delivery program and our largest delivery partner, DoorDash, so what better way to do that than to join in on the National Pizza Day fun with our very own pancake-pizza creation: Pancizza,” Haley said. “After all, pizza was one of the first and still the biggest ‘circle in a box’ take-out and delivery items in America so, naturally, we thought that we could do our very own IHOP, pancakeified version.”

DoorDash was officially announced as IHOP’s national delivery partner in mid-2018. Delivery has played a strong role in IHOP’s off-premise strategy. In the past six months, the number of IHOP stores participating in the DoorDash delivery partnership has tripled.

“To-go and delivery options now have a greater influence over consumers’ decisions on how and where they dine and we’ve taken strategic steps to address the convenience needs of our guests,” IHOP president Darren Rebelez said on a call in November 2018.

Haley adds, “Our national partnership with DoorDash has been instrumental in helping us grow our IHOP ‘N GO online ordering business. As a leading online ordering and delivery provider, they have the reach and trusted reputation to get more pancakes to our guests, wherever and whenever that ‘pancraving’ hits.”
