Famed restaurateur Daniel Boulud has a massive project in the works. Boulud is set to open an 11,000 square-foot restaurant at One Vanderbilt in New York City, the 1,400-foot skyscraper being build next to Grand Central Terminal, reports The New York Post.

The 1.7 million-square-foot office tower is scheduled to open by 2020. Only one tenant, TD Bank, has signed for 200,000 square feet, the article says.

Boulud’s restaurant will be housed on the second floor facing Vanderbilt Avenue and East 42nd Street. Boulud’s popular grab-and-go Epicerie Boulud, which has locations at the World Trade Center and near Lincoln Center, will also have a spot on the ground floor. Boulud is investing in the deal as opposed to signing a conventional lease, The New York Post adds.

Also, the Post notes that SL Green CEO Marc Holliday, who has the iconic Eleven Madison Park in his portfolio, hasn’t partnered with a restaurateur in quite this fashion.

“We have many top restaurants in our portfolio, including Eleven Madison Park at 11 Madison Avenue,” Holliday told the Post. “But if there’s a departure here, it’s that we are actually partnering with Daniel — something we haven’t done before.”

One example is The Four Seasons, which is moving to 280 Park Ave. with a normal lease.

This means that Boulud will be footing some of the development costs and his Dinex Group will run the operation, which is reported to feature 100-plus seats in the dining room and an additional 50 for private events. The project is Boulud’s first in an office tower and will be “fine” dining, although no further details on the cuisine were provided. The project will join Boulud’s other NYC venues, including Daniel, Bar Boulud, Boulud Sud, Café Boulud, Bar Pleiades, DB Bistro Moderne, DBGB Kitchen & Bar, and the three Épicerie Boulud locations.
