Hooters of America, LLC, today announced a new domestic development agreement with Chandi Group USA to build multiple Hooters restaurants in the Palm Springs, Indio, Coachella, and Cathedral City, California, areas.

Headed by Nachattar Chandi, Chandi Group USA’s first location is slated to open in late summer of 2015.

This agreement represents a continuation of Hooters worldwide unit growth acceleration.

Hooters' same-store sales results also continue to gain momentum, and according to Knapp Track, have outperformed the casual-dining segment in nine of the past 10 quarters ending September 2014. Hooters company-owned stores posted same store sales growth of 3.6 percent in the third quarter of 2014.

“Our focus on food, atmosphere, and service continues to pay dividends. Guests are responding enthusiastically to our newly remodeled restaurants, and potential franchisees are also taking note,” says Terry Marks, CEO, Hooters of America. “We are delighted to welcome Nachattar Chandi and his highly successful team to the Hooters family.”

Each of Chandi’s Southern California locations will feature all of the contemporary design elements that Hooters is implementing in its new-build and newly remodeled Hooters restaurants, including top-of-the-line AV packages, more comfortable seating, large windows to allow for plenty of natural lighting, and a central island bar featuring a wider selection of cocktails and craft beers.

Hooters remodeled or refreshed 55 U.S. locations over the past 18 months, with plans to remodel in excess of 30 additional units in 2015.

Buoyed by the performance of its newest restaurants, Hooters is executing a robust growth plan that calls for an additional 150 new locations worldwide over the next five years.

In 2014, Hooters opened 10 new international locations—most recently celebrating grand openings in Aruba; Mexico City, Mexico, and Surfer’s Paradise, Australia; and in the premier Featherbrooke Village in the Ruimsig suburb of Roodepoort, South Africa, this past week.

Earlier this year Hooters opened new locations in Xi’an, China; Prague, Czech Republic; Shibuya (Tokyo), Japan; Panama City, Panama; Moscow, Russia; and Phuket, Thailand. Hooters 2015 plans call for 24 new franchise openings worldwide and five new corporate restaurants.

“We’re always seeking qualified partners that share our enthusiasm for introducing the Hooters concept to new cities across the U.S. and countries around the world,” says Mark Whittle, senior vice president of global development, Hooters of America.
