Michelin-Starred Joe Isidori Bringing Fourth New York Black Tap to Midtown
The rapidly expanding Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer will bring its award-winning burgers and world-renowned crazy milkshakes from chef/owner Joe Isidori and owner Chris Barish to Midtown on November 22. Opening at The Blakely New York, Black Tap Midtown will continue to pay homage to the classic American Luncheonette with traditional and innovative takes on the burgers and milkshakes.
“We are thrilled to bring Black Tap to Midtown’s workers, residents, and visitors from around the world at The Blakely,” says Isidori. “We invite everyone to come join us for a burger and a beer, with a crazy shake on the side, of course."
Black Tap Midtown’s menu highlights classics such as The All-American Burger; and the award winning Greg Norman Burger, with wagyu beef, house buttermilk-dill, blue cheese & arugula; as well as new menu items like the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, with Korean BBQ, buttermilk coleslaw, cilantro, fresh lime & spice mayo; and The Vegan Burger, a black bean patty with vegan mayo, pickled onions & salsa verde. Other menu items include Craft Burger Salads, Spicy Korean BBQ wings, and sides like crispy brussels sprouts and teriyaki broccoli.
Isidori also crafted the Black Tap Midtown beverage program, including Black Tap’s famous crazy shakes. Offerings include Cotton Candy, Sweet N' Salty, and Cookie Shake, Sour Power, and Brooklyn Blackout, alongside traditional milkshakes with flavors like Nutella, Oreo Cookies & Cream and Peanut Butter rounding out the menu. Black Tap Midtown will offer a full bar with a specialty cocktail list alongside more than twenty beers including beers on tap; craft cans; Mexican beers and sodas; frozen daiquiris; and a fresh juice bubbler serving refreshing aguas frescas.
The 90-seat restaurant pays homage to the American diner, but the introduction of plywood and heavy metal help usher in a modern, edgy take on the original establishment. Black Tap Midtown offers three dining spaces, including a front dining room with window seating that opens to the street, a full bar with 10 seats in the center of the space, and a back dining room with booths and table seating. World-renowned street artist Bradley Theodore was commissioned for the restaurant’s signature mural and artwork featuring shakes, burgers, and a classic image of Marilyn Monroe.
Prior to the Black Tap Midtown opening, Isidori and Black Tap released their first cookbook, Craft Burgers & Crazy Shakes from Black Tap (Pam Krauss Books), on November 1. In 2017, Isidori and team are set to open additional Black Tap locations in New York and abroad, with its first international location in Dubai.
