French, Italian, and Caribbean flavors collide at Compère Lapin, Chef Nina Compton’s restaurant in New Orleans’ Warehouse District. Compton’s culinary influence is firmly rooted in her upbringing in St. Lucia. Previously based in Miami, Compton moved to New Orleans after starring in the season of “Top Chef” that filmed there and falling in love with the Crescent City. Here, she names her favorite dining spots for when she manages some rare free time.

Emeril’s is a New Orleans classic. Everything here is delicious. From the barbecued shrimp to the andouille crusted drum, you just can’t go wrong with Emeril’s.

Bacchanal is one of my favorite local spots. It has great wine, an amazing backyard, and live music. It’s the Mediterranean in New Orleans.

For good pasta, pizza, and seasonal ingredients, I like to go to Paladar. The food is fresh, bright, and very flavorful. Those who know me know I love good Italian food.

A po’ boy from Gene’s Po-Boys is only $9 and they’re huge. Can’t go wrong with any of them, just depends on my mood.

La Petite Grocery never disappoints. Great food and great drinks. The blue crab beignets are a must.
