The Umstead Hotel and Spa will welcome two iconic wine producers in a series of wine paired dinners.

Curated with the wine aficionado in mind, guests will enjoy an immersion into the history of some of California’s premium winemakers. Executive Chef Steven Greene will artfully prepare complementary progressive American fare to further enhance the wines of honor.

Each wine dinner will take place in The Umstead’s event space, with seating beginning at 6:30 p.m. The events are $150 per person, excluding tax and gratuity.

Guests will be treated to a dining experience featuring some of the most sought-after red blends of Joseph Phelps Vineyards at the Joseph Phelps wine dinner April 9.

The Napa Valley producer is known for its quintessential Californian wines and for spearheading the production of Bordeaux-style blends in California with its signature cuvée, “Insignia,” dating back to 1974. Guests will be presented with a lineup of five different Joseph Phelps wines paired with Chef Greene’s creative dishes, including two vintages of its flagship “Insignia.”

The Ridge Vineyards dinner will be held May 12 with a tasting of five wines paired with Chef Greene’s masterfully crafted dishes, including two “Monte Bello” vintages.

Ridge Vineyards is the largest grower of organically farmed grapes in Sonoma County. Its historic cabernet-based cuveé, “Monte Bello,” won at the 2006 Re-enactment of the Judgment of Paris in the United States and United Kingdom.
